Anyone know if you can get an appointment at the clinic with a valid Student ID card, but if you're not currently registered for courses?

I'm an undergrad in History, I know to graduate you have to have a certain amount of credits in different programs, since I'm in humanities I have to take credits in other programs. I know the rest of my credits can be taken in programs considered humanities. I remember someone telling me how many credits I need and I had written it down but I can't find the paper. Can anyone tell me how many I need?

I'm planning on dropping a class tonight and want to make sure I get my full refund for it. I'm aware of how to drop the class on My Concordia Portal under the Registration section, but I was wondering if I needed to do anything else to get the refund, or if simply clicking "drop" suffices?
Also, I would like to add another class for the fall semester. Is it too late to do so?
Thanks for any help.

Hello, I am an international student (from the US) and I know I need 120 credits to graduate...I am an English major (which is 42 credits) Are the remaining 78 credits electives or does a certain amount have to be in my program? I am planning to meet with an advisor but I would like to have a general idea about where I stand before then.

Hey, I'm set to start my undergrad for Art History at Concordia in the fall, and since I have applied to live on residence (Grey Nuns) I was wondering about the meal plans they offer. If anyone has any experience with it, or general recommendations I was wondering, Is it worth it to get the plan, or better without it? And which plan specifically would you recommend (if any)? I am speaking more on a financial basis, as the whole university experience is already very expensive and i'd hate to spend more than necessary! I'm also from out of province and I'd don't know too much about what Montreal has to offer.
TIA (:

Can anyone recommend any fun/interesting electives? I'm in art history currently and I'd like to find some courses that are a bit different but also good (and not TOO hard).
Thanks!

Hello, Do you know if it's possible to switch a course code designation after you have completed it? I don't know the proper terminology for this, but let's say I took Law & Society which is cross listed as SOCI363 and ANTH363. When I registered for the course, it was as ANTH363, and that is how it appears on my transcript. Given that I need a certain number of 300 level SOCI courses, do you know if it's possible to have it changed on my transcript from ANTH to SOCI, even though I took the course last year? Or can it be counted as a SOCI credit even though it is listed under ANTH? Thanks for any insight you may have, or ideas for the appropriate person to ask about this, and good luck on your exams. Lauren

Hey. I need help with my career choices, but I already know pretty much what I want to do after I graduate. I just need help with figuring out HOW to do it, and my question is where do I go at Concordia for that kind of help? I need to know what other training I need to be qualified for the career I want but I can't seem to find that info anywhere. Is that what the Career Counseling is for or is that more for people who don't know what they want to do?
Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

I'm applying to the graduate diploma in translation for next fall. I already have my BA in English/French from the US.
Does anyone have any enlightening info on the program? I've heard it's good, and they have a French-English option unlike U de Montreal. How does it compare to other programs for translation in Montreal? How is the French department in general? Are the professors decent, is the program large? Will I actually be employed assuming I am successful in the program?
thanks in advance.

You may have have started seeing some of our stickers appear on water bottle vending machines across the SGW campus. Trust us, this is not a half-assed guerilla campaign from students who just snatched on to the first idea they had and ran away with it. We've done our research and are merely trying to get the message across to other students who may still be feeling skeptical about the whole bottled water problem.
Because it is one. There's no reason why water should be privatised and sold back to consumers. Much less tap water treated, repackaged and sold back to us as if it's the most natural thing in the world. You could just as well have walked a few more feet and filled your bottled at a public water fountain! Why should water cost anything, I ask you? It makes no sense, especially in Canada where water is one of our richest natural resources. So we're acting. Because you know what? Students like you and me have always had a strong voice, and if we all start talking about this, then we have a strong chance to shift perceptions throughout the school, and hopefully get Concordia University to stop selling bottled water.

Hi all. I'm in a 4 year program at Concordia, and because I had to do my first year Part time, I have to do an extra full time semester next year. Does it matter to the school whether you need to do extra time? Also, my student ID card expires before then, so will they simply issue me another one for only 1 semester?
Thanks.

hi guys, I'm back with just a few final questions before I submit and send everything out... I tried to call the arts department all day yesterday but only got the answering machine, and I just need these questions answered because I want to make sure everything is done right. So I'm submitting my photography portfolio with the letter of intent and stuff, and I want to know:
1. It says that I submit a "student copy" of my transcripts... does that mean I scan my official ones and print off a copy to send?
2. Each piece should be labeled with the applicant’s name, the material used and the date of completion. when is says "material used" are they talking about the camera used, the editing program? the actually things I used to take the picture? It's not very clear...
3. Do I need to say anything else about the pictures? For example, do I include additional information about what the picture is about and why I took it, etc. Or is that not necessary?
4. In the portfolio evaluation form, it asks what I want to do with my portfolio after evaluation is completed... and one of the options is to pick up the portfolio before October 31st of the current year... I'm assuming for me, this would mean NEXT October as this October has passed?
that's all, thank you SO SO much for any help!!!!

hi guys,
i'm from ontario and in my last year of high school. i would love to come to concordia next year and am very interested in the creative writing program (i feel like it's basically one of a kind; an undergrad degree in creative writing is not a popular option at other schools in canada). however, i have a few questions about the program so if you're in it/have friends that are any advice or insight would be great! i have a few general questions, too, though, like:
1. when does one generally hear back from the university? since the earliest portfolios can be submitted is in january, i'll be sending mine in january 1st to arrive in montreal sometime early in the month. will this, combined with the fact i'm from ontario, mean i'll find out later, and maybe hurt my chance of getting into residence? online and in the publications, the university says that you could find out about your application as late as august. does this really happen?
2. speaking of such, as an out of province student, i understand that the university sees my entire high school transcript. i'm in the 90's now, but in grade 9 and 10 my average was in the high 70's/low 80's. would any of you know if they do mostly base on grade 12 marks or will my earlier records work against me?
3. how is a minor chosen? i would like to minor in either integrative music or french, and i understand music involves a theory placement test. does this mean i'd have to take it this year, or is a minor chosen in second year? also, i took french from kindergarten to grade 9 but didn't continue on in high school (i'm stupid)..do you think the french program would be too challenging? the booklet describes it as being intermediate; what does this mean?
4. for people in the creative writing program, do you like it? i'm taking a high school course in creative writing right now and it's my favourite class i have ever taken, but i assume university would be quite different. do you find it challenging?
5. for the portfolio, what kind of work do you think they're looking for? i'm assuming the best thing to offer is a variety of pieces, but do you find that the program is extremely hard to get into? the capacity being fifty makes me nervous.
wow, that ended up really wordy. sorry about that, lol, and thank you so much in advance!

hi guys, I'm just finishing up my application for Concordia... and I have some extremely noob-y questions. I'm just nervous about this whole thing and I want to make sure I do everything right.
I'm wondering if anyone has previously written a letter of intent for a program, I need to be writing one for the photography program and I'm really not sure how to go about it... I mean the website says what to put IN IT... but still, if you could tell me what you wrote in yours or what you think I should include, it would be a lot of help :)
the other thing, and this is dumb of me to ask, but anyways, do I put in everything in one envelope to send? as in transcripts, letter, and portfolio? Do I also need to include a copy of my high school diploma?
I think that's everything... if anyone has anything else to tell me... go ahead!
again, sorry about the dumb questions but I don't know who else to ask.
thanks! *hearts;

Concordia University cashed my cheque for Fall tuition on September 4th, 2009... and failed to credit my account.
I only realized that they'd made an error today when I wanted to switch around courses for Winter term.
So much for avoiding the lineups by getting things done early. =(
I'll have to get a copy of the cheque from the bank to prove that I paid.
Then see Birks Student Centre to correct their files.
Not looking forward to seeing how much trouble they give me in reversing the erroneous late fee and the interest, but I'll keep everyone posted.
